Susan is an Education Specialist with over 40 years of experience supporting students of all ages across public schools, nonpublic schools, and private practice. She holds advanced degrees in Educational Administration, Counseling Psychology, and Special Education, and is a Certified Assistive Technology Professional.
After beginning her career in general education, Susan earned her Education Specialist credential and went on to teach individuals with a wide range of learning differences. She later served as a special education administrator and as a director of a nonpublic school supporting students with self-regulatory needs.
Susan brings deep expertise in specialized instruction, assessment, and individualized support, including IEP and 504 development and facilitation, behavior intervention planning, addressing learning differences and executive functioning needs, assistive technology, and social-emotional wellness. She also has extensive experience providing teletherapy or virtual support, helping clients stay engaged, build independence, and maintain consistency in online environments through personalized and interactive approaches.
At Turning Points, Susan provides Executive Functioning coaching, ADHD and Autism support, helps students and adults build practical skills in organization, time management, focus, follow-through, and social effectiveness. Her approach is strengths-based and highly personalized, empowering clients to create systems that work with their unique learning style in both educational and vocational environments.
She is trained in a variety of research-based, multi-sensory programs and approaches that address underlying learning differences. For example, she uses Slingerland, Wilson, Barton, Seeing Stars, Visualizing and Verbalizing, LiPS, On Cloud 9, a variety of executive functioning strategies, and many other methods with clients. She is passionate about advocating for educational and vocational needs, and partnering with clients/their families/and other supporting professionals to create meaningful, lasting progress. As a lifelong learner, Susan continually expands her knowledge in assessment, intervention, and instructional strategies.
Outside of her professional work, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, including her four grandchildren.
